BRITISH JAZZ ON CD REISSUE REQUEST

Open letter to the labels of Vocalion/Dutton, BGO, Esoteric Discs, Cuneiform, Reel Recordings, Universal Music Japan plus anybody else out there with their finger on the pulse..

Myself and several other british jazz nuts are looking for a label to consider reissuing any of these classic lost british jazz albums on CD.

NEIL ARDLEY - A Symphony Of Amaranths (1972 EMI Regal)
Never even rumoured to have been selected for reissue. Why is this? Mr Ardley's other masterworks 'Greek Variations', 'Kaleidoscope Of Rainbows' and 'Harmony Of The Spheres' have all been reissued. It's a mystery why this album is still on our 'wants list'.

THE NEW JAZZ ORCHESTRA - Le Déjeuner Sur L'Herbe (1969 Verve)
Masterwork conducted and arranged by Neil Ardley. Was planned for reissue on official Japanese vinyl a couple of years ago but was then cancelled at the last moment, shame. One track on Impressed Vol II is not enough. We need to see this reissued.

GUY WARREN OF GHANA - Afro Jazz (1969 EMI Columbia)
From the studio of Lansdowne. Denis Preston's produced project features multi percussionist Warren with a brit jazz super group in support, Rendell, Carr, D'Silva, Garrick, Green & Tomkins. A friend picked this gem up on vinyl a few years ago and ever since i've been living in hope of it appearing on Vocalions reissue list. This album can no longer be overlooked.

JOE HARRIOTT / AMANCIO D'SILVA QUARTET - Hum Dono (1969 EMI Columbia)
Via the estate of Amancio D'Silva we have had the wonderful 'Integration' and 'Konkan Dance' issued by Universal UK and Vocalion. Quite why this classic (another from Lansdowne Jazz series) has not been reissued yet is a mystery to everyone especially when one considers that a track was issued on Impressed Volume 1 around the time of the BBC's Jazz Brittanica series. Please can we have the full course.

THE RIC COLBECK QUARTET - The Sun Is Coming Up (1970 Fontana)
Classed as a brit jazz want if only for the inclusion of some of Mike Osborne's most fiery alto work. Think his Work on Westbrook's 'Metropolis' is hot, you ain't heard nuttin' son.

These are my top five current wants. Loads more unknown to myself still lurk in decaying archives (if not already dumped in major label wheelie bins).
